Studio 53 Mackay has a number of diverse and dynamic spaces for hire. We are home to numerous local business as well as being available for visiting dance and performance companies while in Mackay.

Studio 53 Mackay was built with one purpose – to offer the students, residents and teachers of Mackay and region the same quality premises in which to learn, as are enjoyed by the professional elite of the performing arts industry. Custom sprung dance flooring as used by The Australian Ballet & Queensland Ballet is one of the features of the Astaire, Taglioni, Warralong, Helpmann, Sondheim and Olivier Studios. Along with double height ballet barres; full length, edge to edge mirroring and natural ventilation – our studios are here to make sure that each hirer has a safe and productive, nurturing and inspiring environment in which to work and create.

Book by the hour; schedule recurring rehearsals each week; lock in your entire year of dance classes.

Whether it be Classical dance, Contemporary dance, Tap dance, Highland or Irish Dance – we have the perfect purpose built room for you. With studios ranging from 70m2 (Olivier, Helpmann and Sondheim) to 150m2 (Astaire and Taglioni) and even up to the impressive 210m2 space available when combining the Taglioni and Helpmann studios – we can cater to every need from student private practise all the way through to Company Class and rehearsals.

We also have dedicated music room – The Cec Millard Resource Room is perfect for individual music practice or vocal lessons. It comes equipped with an upright Yamaha piano, acoustic ceiling tiles and soundproofing from the adjoining studio.

Tai Chi, martial arts, ballroom dancing, pilates and fitness classes all benefit from the sprung flooring and mirrors which feature in all of our six dance studios.

The Courtyard has been used for massage classes, modelling, pilates, stretching, band rehearsals, vocal tuition and musical theatre classes. It offers an open space with great acoustics and light.
