What a study in contrasts! While Day 2 of the RAD Workshop kicked off so too did Brent St on Tour which gave students from Mackay, Rockhampton, Proserpine, Airlie Beach and Ayr the opportunity to work with each other in classes given by the oh so fabulous Paris Cav, Jacob Yarr & Stephen Tannos. Today is day one of The Royal Academy of Dance Autumn Intensive Workshop - what a treat for the students to be working with the incomparable Anna Veretennikova and with live piano accompaniment by Bradley Newman. Welcome to all the visiting students - have a great week! We love love love this - Miss Diane was a former student of Lynette Denny when the studio was known as Warralong Dance Centre - that lovely lad on the piano is Miss Diane’s brother Daniel. It is so rewarding to see the Del Dots sharing their talent in the studios here with the next generation of dancers at 53 Gregory St. Best wishes for your exams girls - and we love that you were able to practice with live music. Miss Diane ( and her sisters Janine and Therese ) would have done that also with the incredibly talented Denise Stevens at the keys 🎹 Mackay Fame Talent School The ever fabulous Rian Thompson back in the Astaire Studio where he formed his love of dance and honed his craft back when the building was known as Theatre Arts Mackay. Great to have you back in Mackay !!! Studio 53 was thrilled to be the venue for the company classes and rehearsals in preparation of Queensland Ballets performance of A Midsummer’s Night Dream - tomorrow at the MECC - do you have your tickets yet? https://www.instagram.com/p/CogFDmWuLZP/ What a week it has been! A huge thanks to our guest teachers Nathaniel, Camilla and Louise for sharing their knowledge, technique, passion and enthusiasm. A huge congratulations to the participants for bringing their love of dance to their classes this week and a really big thank you to Christine and Lynette Denny for making sure it all ran smoothly and greeting everyone with a smile each day. It’s been a fabulous week - and another one to add to the history of dance education within the four walls of this historic building. There’s nothing quite as memorable as the ‘down time’ at a Workshop - this is where the magic truly happens and the friendships are made And that’s a wrap for DAY 2 - stay tuned for more from our contemporary and jazz classes tomorrow - thanks @nathanielh33 the Warralong Studio has been the scene of lots of rhythmic frivolity 🎶 It’s DAY 2 of DANCE BLAST - it’s a brand new day and we are ready to live it large!
